Children's Art Contest

Purpose

 

To provide primary aged (1st-5th) grade students with the space to talk about diversity through art and writing.  To promote a discussion about diversity and its value.

Eligibility

 

Any student in Florida in Orange, Seminole or Osceola county enrolled in 1st through 5th grade are eligible to participate.

How to Apply

Prepare an art project that shows and speaks on the following theme:

 “How does diversity make the world better?”

  • Student will draw a picture that answers the question above

    • Can be in black in white or in color, with crayons, sharpies, colored pencils, pens, paint, mixed media etc.

  • Provide a written description to accompany the picture answering the question in 200 words or less.

  • If submitting by mail: On the back student should include their name, teachers name, age, grade level, and the name of their school.

  • If submitting digitally: in the email student should include their name, teacher’s name, age, grade level and the name of their school.

Award
  • $250 for the student and $250 for the teacher.

Submission Deadline
  • Friday, May 27, 2022 at 12 midnight (EST).

  • Submission can be mailed in to Orlando Center for Justice, 1300 N. Semoran Blvd, Suite 120, Orlando, FL 32807 or digitally sent via email to:  submit@orlandojustice.org.  Please write in the subject line: Children’s Contest: Child’s First Name Last Name.

  • Any submission received after the deadline will not be eligible for the award.  Submissions may be shared on Orlando Center for Justice’s social media platforms and/or printed in published materials and an unlimited license for use will belong to Orlando Center for Justice.

  • The winner will be announced during Orlando Center for Justice’s Immigrant Appreciation Day celebration on June 25th, 2022. Finalists will be given prior notice as to the details of the event, and attendance to the announcement ceremony is encouraged.
